A beautiful afternoon celebrating one of our lovely customers turning 40 🥂✨

The brief was relaxed, informal rustic garden vibes… and it turned out just perfectly. 💚💚

Green foliage, afternoon tea buffet tables, bubbles on arrival and the most glamorous guests all dressed for the occasion 💃💃whilst still keeping that warm, laid-back atmosphere we all love so much at The Barn 🌿

Guests dropped in throughout the afternoon for a glass of Prosecco, a few nibbles and a catch up, whilst the children made full use of the outdoor space running around and playing football on the grounds.

Just easy conversation, laughter and a really lovely atmosphere from start to finish.

And we have to mention THAT cake… a stunning 40-inch celebration cake which tasted every bit as amazing as it looked 🎂 (and very kindly, we all got to try a slice afterwards!)

There’s something really special about village traditions like this 💚

Today we had the pleasure of once again hosting the start of the Dunham Massey May Day Rose Queen procession here at The Barn — a tradition that has brought the village together for generations.

From vintage tractors and classic vehicles, to marching bands, dancing groups, families, neighbours and familiar faces, it truly is one of those days that reminds you what community is all about.

A huge thank you to everyone who gathered with us this morning before the procession made its way down to the Village Hall for an afternoon of fêtes, games, music, food and fun.

We absolutely love being a small part of keeping traditions like this alive.

Seeing all ages come together, celebrating village life in the sunshine (with a little dramatic Cheshire sky thrown in 🌦️), is what makes #DunhamMassey so special.

There’s something really special about baking with flour that’s been grown and milled with such care 🌾

This week we’ve made our very first batch of cakes using flour from our friends @lovinglyartisan @burneside_mill

So today on the counter was our Banana & Blueberry Loaf 🍌🫐

Made with ripe bananas, juicy blueberries and this wonderfully wholesome Cumbrian stoneground flour, which is packed full of flavour, goodness and proper farmhouse character.

The result? A deliciously moist loaf with a rich depth of flavour that you can really taste in every slice.
We honestly think there’s nearly your five-a-day in there too 😉

We love being able to work with incredible local producers and bakers who care as much about quality and ingredients as we do.

Today we had the honour of hosting a truly beautiful celebration of life here at The Barn 🌿

In the most glorious sunshine, family and friends gathered to remember someone very special.

Guests were welcomed with Prosecco on arrival, the gentle sound of bagpipes setting the tone as they arrived — a moment that felt both powerful and peaceful.

An elegant afternoon tea–style buffet was shared, with people coming together to reflect, talk, and celebrate a life well lived 🤍

We’re always incredibly grateful to be trusted with such meaningful moments. Creating a warm, calm space where people can come together at times like this means everything to us.

We only ever use sourdough from @lovinglyartisan

A long standing supplier and lovely friends ❤️we trust them completely for quality, flavour, and doing things properly.

We believe good food is all about keeping things simple and only using the best quality ingredients, So today I’ve picked up some of their very own Cumbrian stoneground flour 🎉🎉and I’m so excited to get baking with it 🙌🏼

But first… I’m going to test it myself (quality control obviously 😉)

If it’s as good as everything else they do, you’re all in for a treat…
